WHYY honored Dr. Anthony Fauci with their 2021 Lifelong Learning Award during a virtual event hosted by the station on February 3rd. ACD was proud to sponsor and participate in the event. Bill Marazzo, President and CEO of WHYY, other members of the WHYY board and staff, as well as many WHYY donors, participated in this special virtual event which recognized Dr. Fauci’s career and contributions to public health, scientific advancement, and education. Terry Gross, host of Fresh Air, which is based at WHYY, interviewed Dr. Fauci and covered a wide variety of topics from his initial years at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease when the United States was in the early days of the AIDS crisis to his most recent role as a prominent source of information and education for the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Several members of the ACD team were also able to attend this virtual event – including Diane Jordan, Senior Account Executive, who also attended the VIP Question and Answer session after the event. In the VIP event, Maiken Scott, host of WHYY’s health and science show, The Pulse, moderated the Q & A session. WHYY members, including several prominent figures from the Philadelphia medical community such as Dr. Ala Stanford, head of the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium, posed additional questions for Dr. Fauci and Terry Gross. Their questions were related primarily to the COVID-19 pandemic and thoughts about how we have handled it here in the United States.
